Adding SYLOID® Mesoporous Silica to your Micronization Process

Jet-milled powders often have a high level of static and poor powder flow properties, which presents difficulties for downstream formulation. Adding SYLOID® mesoporous silica at low percentages to a micronization process can address these disadvantages and lead to better blended downstream products.

• As the level (%) of SYLOID® 244 FP mesoporous silica increased in a blend with APIs, the inlet flow rate increased at a near-linear rate due to the improved powder flow properties

• Co-feeding API and SYLOID® 244 FP mesoporous silica into a jet mill substantially improved powder flow properties, static reduction, and distribution of the SYLOID® mesoporous silica in the final blend as compared to pre- or post-blending with the additive.
